This year’s CKNX Health Care Heroes Radiothon was another huge success.
The Radiothon event, which has run for 15 years now, generates fundraising dollars for local area hospitals, this year directing those towards 8 local healthcare foundations.
Many donations came in, through the open phone lines, and walk-in donations, but also from many local businesses. A few involved that came by the studio live included West Wawanosh Mutual Insurance, Hay Mutual Insurance, Bank of Montreal Wingham, Germania Mutual Insurance, Hurontel, Bruce Power, Howick Mutual Insurance, and the Lucknow Kinsmen.
All donated significant funds toward the event, which had raised almost $200,000 by 4 o’clock, with the phones closing at 5.
The grand total at 5 o’clock sat at $247,822 for the day, which will likely climb due to donations still coming in.
The eight foundations involved were:
Chesley and District Health Services Foundation
Clinton Hospital Foundation
Durham Community Health Care Foundation Inc
Goderich Alexandra Marine & General Hospital Foundation
Mount Forest Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation
Palmerston and District Hospital Foundation
Seaforth Community Hospital Foundation
Wingham and District Hospital Foundation
The CKNX Health Care Heroes Radiothon is in its 15th year in 2016, and over the first 14 has helped raise over $10 million toward local area hospitals.
A charity BBQ was held outside the studio, there was live music throughout the day, and many generous callers who took time to donate and pledge money toward local healthcare in Mid Western Ontario.
